Women in Aviation International is thrilled to offer the 2022 WAI scholarship program featuring a variety of career pursuits. Scholarships include funding to further members' interests in aerospace engineering, aviation maintenance, flight training, helicopter ratings, dispatch, and professional development. 

Applications are due October 12, 2021, and you must be an active WAI member by October 1, 2021, to apply. The 2022 scholarships will be awarded during the 33rd Annual International Women in Aviation Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, from March 17-19, 2022.

We understand the financial barriers of pursuing an additional pilot certificate/rating, in particular for those who are pursuing this during a career-shift. To address this obstacle, this scholarship will be awarded to a woman who is currently pursuing a career as a commercial pilot and expresses financial need.

Tampa Bay Aviation Inc. has a history of being founded and supported by female aviators who have acted in a variety of roles in aviation going back 30 years, such as flight instructor, charter pilot, ferry pilot, FBO manager, and corporate pilot. In an effort to continue to support women interested in aviation, Tampa Bay Aviation Inc. is offering one scholarship to a WAI member pursuing a fixed-wing or rotorcraft, private or commercial pilot license, or instrument rating.

A past board member of WAI, Ted Mallory, was dedicated to the organization and ensured the availability of scholarships to provide opportunities for individuals interested in learning to fly. This scholarship will be awarded to a WAI member who is interested in pursuing a private pilot certificate or Instrument rating.

The International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21) offers scholarships to promote the advancement of women in airline flight decks worldwide. ISA+21 will award two type ratings (B737 or A320) valued at $10,000 each. The successful candidate will train for eight days with Flight Training International in Miami, Florida; or Denver, Colorado. Funds will be paid directly to FTI and training must be completed within 18 months. Finalists will be interviewed at the WAI2022 Annual Conference, and winners will be notified after the conference.

The International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21) offers scholarships to promote the advancement of women in the world's airline flight decks. These scholarships will be awarded to two women with a current FAA medical and working to acquire a certified flight instructor, certified flight instructor instrument, multiengine instructor, initial flight training instructor, multiengine training approval, airline transport certificate/license (ATP or ATPL).

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of a young woman who was well on her way to achieve her dream of becoming an airline pilot, when she lost her life in an airplane accident. The funds for this scholarship are generously donated by the Francesca Norris Memorial Fund and the US Aviation Academy.

A female pilot will receive $5,000 of financial assistance in achieving an initial flight instructor certificate or a new rating on her flight instructor certificate, as well as lifetime access to the entire King Schools online course library of more than 85 courses. Female applicants must hold a current FAA commercial certificate with an instrument rating or an ATP certificate.

The Small UAS Safety Certificate is designed to set a safety inspired foundation for any UAS operation. The Unmanned Safety Institute's Small UAS Safety Certificate covers all pertinent aeronautical knowledge as outlined by the FAA and augments this knowledge with safety practices that will ensure all participants are responsible remote pilots ready to lead in the UAS industry. The Small UAS Safety Certificate meets both the safety-training requirement for USI PRO™ ratings and the FAA knowledge areas required for the remote pilot airman certificate.

Wings for Val Foundation has partnered with the woman-owned DARTdrones UAV Training School to provide a drone training scholarship for a female looking to get started in the drone industry. This scholarship includes the DARTdrones ultimate Professional Drone Pilot Package; designed to give you everything you need to pass the Part 107 Drone License exam, including six months access to their full online Part 107 Test Prep course and student guide.
