Scholarships

Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International and help members reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. A total of $695,500 was awarded in 2018, bringing the total scholarships awarded since 1995 to $11,495,581. HARD COPY APPLICATIONS ONLY The Anne Bridge Baddour Aviation Scholarship will be awarded to a female pilot with the following accomplishments:  Must be a U. S. citizen.  A burning desire to become a professional pilot.  Have at least a private pilot certificate with 150 hrs flying time.  Be on track towards the ATP.  This award will be used to further her aims toward an instrument rating, multi-engine or ATP rating.

Horizon Air will award two $2,500 scholarships to a female pilot pursuing a professional airline pilot career. Applicants must be full-time students at the junior or senior level with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.

Sporty’s Foundation is offering one recreational or sport pilot flight training scholarship to a small aircraft maintenance technician.  The award money is not intended for use in achieving any other certificate, rating or endorsement.  Award money is to be used for flight training costs only.  Award recipient must plan to pursue a Recreational or Sport Pilot certificate within six months of receiving the scholarship.  Award money will be sent to recipient’s employer or flight school for disbursement and will require two endorsements for deposit.  Award recipient will also receive a copy of

The International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21) offers scholarships to promote the advancement of women in the world’s airline flight decks. ISA+21 will award four scholarships up to $5000 to women working to acquire a CFI, CFII or MEI certificate. Funds will be paid directly to the American Flyers Academy at their Addison Texas, Pompano Beach, Florida, or Morristown, New Jersey locations, an accredited college or university with an aviation curriculum, an aviation technical school, or government approved flight school. Training must be completed within one year of the award.

Online Application Only   The Blackburn Family in cooperation with Women in Aviation is offering four $10,000 flight scholarships to Men and women whose primary residence is located in the Pacific Northwest.  In addition to the four $10,000 flight scholarships, the Blackburn Family is encouraging attendance at the next Women in Aviation Conference in Long Beach, California March 14-16 by providing travel and lodging (up to $1000) for each recipient.  Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and a legal resident of Washington, Oregon, Montana or Idaho.

The International Society of Woman Airline Pilots (ISA+21) offers scholarships to promote the advancement of women in the world’s airline flight decks. ISA+21 will award two B737 or A320 type ratings valued at $10,000 each. The successful candidates will train for eight days with Flight Training International in Miami Florida. Funds will be paid directly to the flight school and training must be completed within 18 months. One letter of recommendation must be from a pilot who has flown with you.

WAI will award a $10,000 scholarship to a student pursuing a space flight career. Degree majors can include: aeronautical science, space studies, professional pilot, or similar degree areas. Applicants will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, leadership skills, and future career aspirations.  Applicants must meet all WAI scholarship requirements, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and enrolled in a college/university aviation degree program.
