Professional Bio

Kandy Bernskoetter, Lifetime WAI 7304, has been flying for over 37 years. She is currently a captain on the B767 for FedEx Express, having previously flown with ATA Airlines and Vanguard Airlines. Kandy holds aircraft type ratings for the B737, B757, B767, B777, MD-11, and SA-227.

In 2020, she was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to the FAA Women in Aviation Advisory Board (WIAAB), where she helped develop and provide independent recommendations and strategies to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. Congress, and industry leaders to support organizations and programs that offer education, training, mentorship, outreach, and recruitment of women in aviation. For over 19 years, she volunteered with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the largest pilot union in the world, which has more than 78,000 members across 41 airlines in the United States and Canada. She held various roles, including National Membership Chair, founder and chair of the FedEx Pilot Peer Support Team, PATH, as well as chair of the FedEx Critical Incident Response Program.

Kandy was also among the inaugural members of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Associations (IFALPA) Female Pilot Working Group, which raises awareness about the challenges faced by female pilots and recognizes their contributions to the industry.

Kandy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley.
