Professional Bio

Arlene Elliott was a steady promoter of general aviation for more than 60 years. She and her husband Herbert began Elliott Aviation, a fixed base operation, in 1936. Over the years, the Elliotts expanded their operation to include a dealership for Piper and Beechcraft airplanes. Arlene soloed in a Piper Cub in 1936, but chose to direct her personal efforts toward the development and promotion of general aviation. She was instrumental in "the turnaround of the bankers' attitude" toward the financing of aircraft purchases. Arlene Elliott exemplified the entrepreneurial spirit and was an early aviation woman business owner. She died in 2010.
