Scholarships

Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International and help members reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. A total of $695,500 was awarded in 2018, bringing the total scholarships awarded since 1995 to $11,495,581. Delta Air Lines would like to extend a 2019 summer internship (13 weeks) opportunity to a student currently enrolled in a baccalaureate degree in business management or industrial engineering.  In addition to an internship position, the recipient will receive a trip to the 30th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference (includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and conference fee). Applicants must be full-time students at the junior or senior level with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale).  Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.

American Airlines will award one $5,000 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an aviation maintenance technician program (A&P) or a degree in aviation maintenance technology.  Candidates will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, teamwork, leadership skills and community service involvement.   Applicants must meet all WAI scholarship requirements and guidelines, GPA must be 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher, enrolled in an accredited U.S. maintenance program, and be a U.S.

The TAM Scholarship was created after sponsor Carolyn Burton, an American Airlines mechanic identified a need for providing tools to a female student starting out in aircraft maintenance.  Carolyn will offer one TOOL Scholarship for $2500 worth of TOOLS of your choice plus round-trip airfare.  In addition, Snap-On Industrial is generously contributing an aviation starter tool kit with a value of $2500.
