Scholarships

Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International and help members reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. A total of $695,500 was awarded in 2018, bringing the total scholarships awarded since 1995 to $11,495,581. Women in Corporate Aviation (WCA) is offering the Women in Corporate Aviation Career Scholarship funded by its members and sponsors, to any person pursuing professional development or career advancement in any job classification of corporate and/or business aviation.  The award must be used toward a specific program of education.  Suggested uses include flight training, dispatcher training, maintenance training, corporate flight attendant training and leadership training (i.e.

WAI will award a $2,500 scholarship to an individual desiring a career as an air traffic control specialist in tower, TRACON, or ARTCC option.  Applicants must meet all WAI scholarship requirements and, in their essay, describe the reason they are selecting a career as an ATC specialist.  To complement the scholarship, WAI will host the winner with attendance at the 30th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference in Long Beach, California, includes conference registration, hotel, and travel stipend.

Aero Femme is a non-profit organization and scholarship fund that provides aviation scholarships.  One $500 scholarship will be awarded to an individual pursuing any type of aviation interest.  Our mission is to encourage and educate women of all ages to be involved in all types of aviation.  Aero Femme continues to educate women of all ages about all aspects of aviation with their youth and adult outreach programs across the nation.  The requirements for this scholarship includes meeting all WAI scholarship requirements, you must be a U.S.

One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student at the college level of sophomore year or above who is pursuing a degree in an aviation-related field, who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and who exhibits leadership potential. In addition to WAI requirements all applicants should submit a 500-word essay which addresses their career aspirations and clear, concise examples of how they have exhibited leadership in their academic/work/personal life.

In honor of their service to our country, American Airlines will award one $5,000 scholarship to a military veteran or current service member who is pursing aviation/aeronautical education or training. This award will be paid directly to the accredited flight school, institution or college. Candidates will be evaluated on achievements, teamwork, leadership skills, motivation and community service involvement. Please submit application according to WAI scholarship guidelines.

You must be an U.S. citizen or have a current visa to the US to apply.  Training will take place at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Lodging and travel expenses are not included.  This is for applicants looking to become corporate flight attendants only.  Our training is in compliance with rules and regulations of the FAA Part 91, 125 and 135 and is accepted worldwide.  Scholarship must be used within a year of the award.

The Boeing Company will award a scholarship to a woman who wishes to advance her career in the aerospace industry in the fields of engineering, technology development or management.  The award is to be used for educational purposes only and may not be applied toward flight hours.  Applicants may be full-time or part-time employees currently in the aerospace industry or a related field.  Also eligible are students pursuing aviation and aerospace-related degrees that are at the sophomore level with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

In 2005 the Chuck Yeager Foundation established a scholarship to assist those who may not otherwise be able to become involved in aviation.  This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving WAI member who has applied for other WAI scholarships and who has unique circumstances that impede their ability to advance their aviation plans.  The recipient of this scholarship will be selected from the applications submitted for other scholarships.  The selection will be based on information submitted in the scholarship application.  No separate application is required.
