The Blackburn Family, in cooperation with WAI, is offering four $10,000 flight scholarships to men and women ages 18 to 30 who have soloed an aircraft and are working toward achieving flight training for any category, class, or rating. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and legal residents of Washington or Oregon.
Along with all other WAI application requirements, applicants must also provide a copy of their solo endorsement, recent logbook pages, and medical certificate. Applicant essays should include specifically how the funds will be used along with the applicants short- and long-term goals. Funds will be paid directly to the flight school of recipient's choice and must be used within 12 months of the award. By submitting an application, scholarship recipients agree to attend the next WAI Annual Conference, and send the donor email and logbook updates monthly for one year. The donor requests that the recipient provide a scenic "achievement" flight from KBLI within five years of receiving this scholarship. Scholarship winners will receive an addition $1,000 travel award to attend the WAI2022 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, March 17 - 19, 2022.
