The WAI San Diego Chapter will award a $3,000 scholarship to a female pilot pursuing a career in aviation. The award will be used to support flight training towards a private, instrument or commercial rating. The winner will also receive a trip to the 2020 International Women in Aviation Conference (including round trip airfare, conference registration fee, and hotel accommodations). The winner will decide how much money is allocated to flight training and to conference expenses. Applicants must be a legal U.S. citizen and resident of Southern California; preference will be given to those who reside in San Diego County. The recipient will be chosen based on previous accomplishments, a proven ability to set and achieve goals, and a definite plan for a career in aviation. Please submit all WAI scholarship application requirements. At least one of the two recommendation letters must come from someone involved in your aviation training (CFI, chief pilot, ground school instructor, etc.). In the required 500-word essay, describe how you will use your time at the WAI conference to further your aviation career goals. Finally, if the applicant is a student pilot, they must have soloed by the time the application is submitted, and a copy of the solo endorsement must be included with the application.
