Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International and help members reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. In 2020, WAI awarded 151 scholarships valued at $831,365 bringing the total scholarships awarded since 1995 to over $13.2 million.

Helicopter Scholarships

This scholarship provides $2,500 to applicants who want to attain their commercial helicopter ratings. Applicants must already have their private pilot’s license and be enrolled in a commercial helicopter rating program at an FAA-approved Part 141 school or international equivalent. Applicants must expect to receive your commercial helicopter pilot rating after January 1, 2021 (if you will receive your rating before this date, you are not eligible to apply).

Aviation Maintenance Scholarships

For almost 50 years, ATP has been a proud supporter of global general aviation with information services and software solutions focused on making flying safer and more reliable. ATP will award a $1,000 scholarship to a woman pursuing the aircraft maintenance licenses. Please include a personal statement in your essay describing your interest and ambitions in aviation.

Flexjet will award one $2,000 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an Aviation Maintenance Technician Program (A&P) or a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Candidates will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, teamwork, leadership skills and community service involvement. Requirements: Meet all WAI scholarship requirements and guidelines, GPA must be 3.0 or higher, enrolled in an accredited U.S. maintenance program, U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

This scholarship provides $2,500 to applicants who are in training to become aviation maintenance technicians. Applicants must already be enrolled in a maintenance technician certificate program at an FAA-approved Part 147 school or international equivalent.  Applicants who expect to receive their maintenance technician certificates prior to Jan. 1, 2021, are ineligible to apply for this award.

Pratt & Whitney will offer (6) engine maintenance training scholarships to individuals working to become A&P mechanics. Winners will receive the following: - One engine maintenance training course (recipients can pick one of the two options). - Domestic airfare only (see international travel for more information).

The TAM Scholarship was created after sponsor Carolyn Burton, an American Airlines Mechanic identified a need for providing tools to a female student starting out in Aircraft Maintenance. Carolyn will offer one TOOL Scholarship for $2500 worth of TOOLS of your choice plus round-trip airfare. In addition, Snap-On Industrial is generously contributing an aviation starter tool kit with a value of $2500.

The Airline Dispatchers Federation in conjunction with Academy College (Bloomington, MN) is offering a scholarship to earn his/her Aircraft Dispatcher’s FAA 121 certificate. The following are details of this scholarship: 1. The scholarship will have a monetary value of $5,840.00 which will cover instruction and training required to take the Aircraft Dispatch written test and check ride with an FAA 121 examiner for certification.

Hybrid Course (Online / 8-day classroom session)  The Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. hybrid Aircraft Dispatcher Course is comprised of two elements: a four-month (17 week) self-paced online portion and an 8-day classroom session. This course allows you to complete the majority of the coursework online over a four-month period.  Once you complete the online requirements and pass the FAA Airman Knowledge Test, you will spend 8 days at our training facility in Houston, TX to complete the practical portion of your training.
