Women in Aviation International is thrilled to offer the 2022 WAI scholarship program featuring a variety of career pursuits. Scholarships include funding to further members' interests in aerospace engineering, aviation maintenance, flight training, helicopter ratings, dispatch, and professional development. 

Applications are due October 12, 2021, and you must be an active WAI member by October 1, 2021, to apply. The 2022 scholarships will be awarded during the 33rd Annual International Women in Aviation Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, March 17-19, 2022.

As a result of the success of Girls in Aviation Day 2019 by the Greater Delaware Valley, Aviation Influence provided funds to establish a named scholarship, funded on an annual basis, and awarded per the criteria and process as follows.

The "It's About Time Scholarship" is overseen by Abingdon Foundation and awards a full registration to the conference, round trip airfare, and room and board during the conference to a woman 18-year-old and above. Along with access to keynotes, workshops and multiple networking opportunities, we will introduce the winner to key people in the industry who can share their experiences. 
Applicants are NOT required to be experienced in the aviation industry. The goal is to invite someone to see all of the different avenues of aviation - both flying and nonflying.

The WAI Washington State Chapter offers a $1,500 scholarship in memory of Janet Clark, a strong advocate for aviation education who worked for the FAA as an airworthiness aviation safety inspector, maintenance division, and was a member of the Washington State Chapter. The applicant must be working toward a career in aviation, be enrolled in an accredited aviation-related program, have experience volunteering in WAI events and/or aviation-related events in the previous year, and detail explanations of his or her career plans, goals, and volunteer experiences in the essay.

This scholarship will be provided to a woman who has recently gone through a difficult situation or setback in life such as the loss of a loved one, health issues, a separation, financial hardship, or something alike who can use some support and a positive outlook to get back on her feet and reach 'New Horizons.' The scholarship can be used on any type of aviation interest.

The Skyway Center at San Carlos (KSQL) has launched its annual scholarship, the Skyway Center Aviatrix Scholarship (SCAS) to promote and help fund the chosen career path of the next generation of aviatrix. SCAS is a $5,000 commitment by Skyway Center at San Carlos for an aspiring pilot, mechanic, or an existing pilot or mechanic seeking additional ratings. Funds will be paid directly to her flight school or A&P school of choice, and training must be completed within one year.

The Boeing Company will award a scholarship to a woman who wishes to advance her career in the aerospace industry in the fields of engineering, technology development, or management. The award is to be used for educational purposes only and may not be applied toward flight hours. Applicants may be full-time or part-time employees currently in the aerospace industry or a related field. Also eligible are students pursuing aviation and aerospace-related degrees that are at the sophomore level with a minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

The Widdows family is offering a $3000 USD scholarship to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Capt. Daniel Widdows who distinguished himself as a pilot for Southern Air Cargo as a captain, instructor and check airman, as well as helping to establish the Southern Air Boeing 777 program. He was a leader who believed in living life to the fullest and will be remembered as a mentor to many, giving of himself and his time to help fellow aviators as they pursued their dreams.

Elisha Hall, WAI 2335, represented herself as a dedicated and passionate aviation professional. She was a leader, an explorer, and lived life to its fullest. She set both her sights and her standards high. To celebrate her life and accomplishments, the WAI Wright Chapter, is offering a $2,000 scholarship to a woman who embodies the qualities that Elisha so splendidly exemplified, and is seeking to further her aviation career in one or more of the following areas: flight training (any phase); aircraft scheduling or dispatch; aviation management; aviation maintenance or avionics.

The WAI Atlanta Wheels Down South Chapter is offering a scholarship to aid an individual with the pursuit of his or her aviation dream. Applicants will be evaluated based on merit, career, aspirations, dedication, contributions to the community, and following application directions. Within the required 500-word descriptive essay, include the details of your aviation dream (flight, maintenance, management, etc.); how this scholarship will aid with your goal; where you hope to use this award; and an approximate timeline of completion for your goal.

Individual must be enrolled or accepted in an accredited two- or four-year college, technical institution, or certificate program with a declared interest in aviation. School must be a certified Part 141 flight school program, Part 91 flight training program, or a Part 147 aviation maintenance technician school.
