Scholarships

Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International and help members reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. A total of $948,500 of scholarship funds were awarded in 2019, including an additional $73,000 in June from an anonymous contributor. This brings the total scholarships awarded since 1995 to over $12 million. The 2020 scholarship application process is now online, and applications must be submitted by November 12, 2019. Mailed applications and materials should be sent to WAI Scholarships, 3647 State Route 503 South, West Alexandria, OH 45381.

Aviation Maintenance Scholarships

American Airlines will award one $5,000 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an Aviation Maintenance Technician Program (A&P) or a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Delta Air Lines will award a $5,000 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in Aviation Maintenance Management or Aviation Business Management. In addition to the $5,000 scholarship, the recipient will receive a trip to the 31st Annual International Women in Aviation Conference (includes round trip airfare, hotel accommodations and conference fee). Hybrid Course (Online / 8-day classroom session) The Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. hybrid Aircraft Dispatcher Course is comprised of two elements: a four-month (17 week) self-paced online portion and an 8-day classroom session. This course allows you to complete the majority of the coursework online over a four-month period.  Once you complete the online requirements and pass the FAA Knowledge Test, you will spend 8 days at our training facility in Houston, TX to complete the practical portion of your training.
