Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International and help members reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. In 2020, WAI awarded 151 scholarships valued at $831,365 bringing the total scholarships awarded since 1995 to over $13.2 million.

The Small UAS Safety Certificate is designed to set a safety inspired foundation for any UAS operation. The Unmanned Safety Institute’s Small UAS Safety Certificate covers all pertinent aeronautical knowledge as outlined by the FAA and augments this knowledge with safety practices that will ensure all participants are responsible remote pilots ready to lead in the UAS industry. The Small UAS Safety Certificate meets both the safety-training requirement for USI PRO™ ratings and the FAA knowledge areas required for the Remote Pilot Airman Certificate.

Sporty’s Foundation is offering one Recreational or Sport Pilot flight training scholarship to a WAI chapter member who works with youth to help them pursue their aviation dreams. Special consideration will be given to Girls in Aviation Day volunteers. Scholarship funds are to be used for flight training costs only and must be used within one year of receiving the scholarship.  Award money will be sent to recipient’s flight school for disbursement. Recipient will also receive a copy of Sporty’s COMPLETE Learn to Fly Flight Training Course.

A past board member of WAI, Ted Mallory, was dedicated to the organization and to ensuring the availability of scholarships to provide opportunities for individuals interested in learning to fly. The Ted Mallory Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a WAI member who is interested in pursuing a Private Pilot certificate or Instrument rating.

This scholarship is for a multi-engine commercial rating. Scholarship applicant must meet all WAI requirements and already have a private pilot certificate and instrument rating. Essay must be one page - and no more than 500 words. Include what kind of career you want to have and why you are so passionate about flying. Submit all aviation certificates and last three pages of log book. Recipient will be chosen on a basis of merit, career aspirations and dedication to aviation. Funds will be paid directly to your flight school and training must be completed within one year of award.

The International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21) offers scholarships to promote the advancement of women in airline flight decks worldwide. ISA+21 will award two type ratings (B737 or A320) valued at $10,000 each. The successful candidate will train for eight days with Flight Training International in Miami, FL, Denver, CO or Dallas, TX. Funds will be paid directly to FTI and training must be completed within 18 months. The recipients of the airline type rating scholarship are responsible for all travel, housing, and personal expenses during training.

The International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21) offers scholarships to promote the advancement of women in airline flight decks worldwide. ISA+21 will award a minimum of two scholarships valued at $5,000 each to women working to acquire a CFI, CFII or MEI certificate. Funds will be paid directly to an accredited college or university with an aviation curriculum, an aviation technical school, or a government approved flight school. Training must be completed within one year of the award. Applicant must possess: 1. Commercial Pilot License. 2.

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of a young woman who was well on her way to achieve her dream of being an airline pilot, when she lost her life in an airplane accident. The funds for this scholarship are generously donated by the Francesca Norris Memorial Fund and the US Aviation Academy. The International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA+21) will award two $5,000 scholarships (one of those is co-sponsored by the US Aviation Academy) to women working to acquire a CFI, CFII or MEI rating, in honor of Francesca’s memory.

A female pilot will receive $5,000 of financial assistance in achieving an initial flight instructor certificate or a new rating on her flight instructor certificate, as well as lifetime access to the entire King Schools online course library of more than 85 courses. Martha and John King are co-chairmen of King Schools, the largest provider of online training for pilots from student through professional.
