Women in Aviation, International Announces Endowment Fund;
$10,000 Contribution from Captain Sandy Anderson

Women in Aviation, International (WAI) President and Founder, Dr. Peggy Baty, announced the establishment of an endowment fund at the 10th anniversary International Women in Aviation Conference, held recently at the Radisson Twin Towers in Orlando. The endowment fund, established by the WAI Board of Directors, will serve to support scholarships and educational outreach activities for the organization.

"With a $10,000 contribution from Women in Aviation Board member Sandy Anderson," says Baty, "WAI’s fund has now reached the $50,000 minimum necessary to formally establish the endowment." Anderson is a B-747 Captain for Northwest Airlines, a founding Board member and current vice-president, plus the exhibit chair for the organization’s annual conference. In addition to Anderson’s donation, the San Francisco Chapter of "Women United," a United Airlines employees’ organization, recently donated $2,400 to be used to award scholarships.

The WAI Endowment Fund will be supported with donations from the Silent Auction held each year at the Conference, the WAI Annual Fund campaign and donations specifically earmarked for the endowment.

Women in Aviation, International is a non-profit organization with more than 3,500 members, based near Dayton, Ohio.
