FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sun ‘n Fun Radio will host a new radio show called “Women Shine at Sun ‘n Fun” to help increase the visibility of women involved in many aspects of aviation. WAI’s program will run daily, from 1:00 pm to 1:15 pm starting Tuesday, April 8, and can be heard on at WPEP located at 1510 AM.
Featured guests include WAI President Peggy Chabrian and Women in Aviation members EAA Vice President Elissa Lines, Martha King of King Schools, National Association of Flight Instructors Vice President Joann Hill and the Beemster Hot Air Balloon Pilot Rebecca Elkins.
One of the topics sure to be discussed is the partnership Women in Aviation has formed with EAA called WomenVenture, a program planned for EAA AirVenture 2008. WomenVenture was announced at Women in Aviation’s annual conference last month in San Diego. WomenVenture will run all week at AirVenture and include speakers, seminars and other activities designed to highlight the accomplishments of women in aviation history as well as the benefits and opportunities of becoming a pilot and the many career possibilities available in aviation.
WomenVenture will culminate on Friday, August 1, 2008, with Women in Aviation’s Celebrity Breakfast, followed by the largest gathering of women pilots in history, assembled in AeroShell Square at 10:30 am.
Dr. Chabrian and Ms. Lines will give further details of WomenVenture during their interviews while other “Women Shine at Sun ‘n Fun” guests will highlight the many pleasures and opportunities that exist for women in aviation.
Women in Aviation will be present on site all week and may be visited at its booth in Hangar A, Booth 34. Women and men of all ages are urged to stop by the booth to learn of the benefits of membership, including an annual distribution of nearly $700,000 in scholarship funds.
