November 2, 2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
An additional $125,000 in scholarships are now available to Women in Aviation, International’s (WAI) members as part of the organization’s annual scholarship opportunities. Because these scholarships are only now being announced, the application deadline for these scholarships has been extended to December 10, 2007.
These scholarships include typeratings from Bombardier Business Aircraft Services, ExpressJet and Horizon Air as well as a separate scholarship for Learjet maintenance training also offered by Bombardier. Additionally, other new scholarships are being offered by ICAO, Garmin and Telex, whose scholarship is accompanied by a headset.
"These late application scholarships offer tremendous opportunities for our members,” said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “We couldn’t do it without the generous support of the sponsors, corporate members as well as individuals who make this amazing scholarship program possible.”
In order to apply for any of the scholarships offered this year, the applicant must be an active member of Women in Aviation. Membership is open to both women and men. The deadline for 46 other scholarships remains December 1, 2007. All scholarships will be awarded at this year’s 19th Annual International WAI Conference scheduled for March 13-15, 2008, at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego.
A complete description of each scholarship along with detailed instructions, useful tips to increase your chances of winning as well as the application form are available on line at www.wai.org.
