FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Women in Aviation, International (WAI) members attending AirVenture had the opportunity to connect at WAI's Celebrity Breakfast, held on Friday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn. Chevron Global Aviation was the sponsor of the breakfast and has been for five years.
Special guests included John and Martha King who announced that every member who attends WAI's 2008 Conference in the King School home base of San Diego, California, from March 13-15 will receive complimentary access to the Kings' online Jet Transition course. WAI President Peggy Chabrian later announced that the donation is valued at more than one million dollars.
Air show pilots Julie Clark and Patty Wagstaff and the AeroShell Aerobatic Team were on hand for the breakfast for photos and handshakes. FAA Administrator Marion Blakey stopped by and told the attendees, "When I see the men here in this room supporting and participating in WAI, I know you are on the right track as an organization."
Dan Gryder of Griffin, Georgia, donated several seats in his Herpa Toys-sponsored DC-3 as well as invitations to a catered party. "We appreciate all the support from Dan. This is the second year Dan has supported Women in Aviation with DC-3 rides and activities," said Dr. Chabrian.
Door prizes included a full registration for WAI's 2008 Conference to be held at the Town & Country Resort in San Diego, California, from March 13-15, 2008. One highlight of this year's Conference is a pre-Conference WAI Military Day where the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines provide a static aircraft display at the North Island Naval Base, along with a U.S. Coast Guard air/water demonstration and a tour of an aircraft carrier.
