FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aviation for Women, International has a regional conference planned in Anchorage, Alaska, for September 7-8, 2007. This regional conference will take place at The Millennium Alaskan hotel, located on the shore of Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world; in fact, the hotel has its own private floatplane dock.
The Alaska Conference kicks off on Friday, September 7, 2007, with a tour of several Anchorage sites, including the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum. A reception that evening at 5:30 p.m. gives Conference attendees an opportunity to network.
Saturday, September 8 begins with a general session, followed by a day’s worth of speakers and workshops and ending with a reception. Lunch will be part of the Conference activities on Saturday.
“Anchorage offers affordability, accessibility, adventure, culture, wildlife, scenery and education – and now even more aviation. We are planning an exciting conference, and we hope area pilots will come see what WAI is all about” said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian.
Informal networking continues on Sunday with an optional all-day cruise on Prince William Sound to see glaciers as well as otters, seals, porpoises, sea lions and whales from the 137-foot Klondike Express, whose captain and first mate are both female.
Registration for the Alaska Regional Conference is $150 for WAI members ($85 for students) and $195 for non-members ($115 for students). Some meals and side-trips are extra. Registration after August 15, 2007, is an additional $50. A registration form may be downloaded at www.wai.org.
