A stellar panel will share their views and expertise on space travel with Women in Aviation, International Conference attendees during Saturday morning's general session at this year's Conference. With a theme of "How to Reach New Heights of Success," Women in Aviation International will meet this year at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville from March 23-25, 2006.
"The challenges surrounding commercial space travel are fascinating -- there's no more topical subject," said WAI President Peggy Chabrian. "We've assembled a first-rate panel to focus on these issues."
Moderated by former NASA Astronaut Hoot Gibson, the space panel includes Eileen Collins, NASA Astronaut, Shuttle Commander and veteran of four space flights; Brian Binnie, Program Business Manager and Test Pilot at Scaled Composites and SpaceShipOne pilot; and Will Whitehorn, president of Virgin Galactic, the world's first commercial spaceline.
The session is sponsored by Boeing. Also on the agenda for Saturday morning is Nicole Piasecki, vice president of Business Strategy & Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. She is responsible for leading strategic business planning and marketing for Boeing's products and services and will speak on Boeing's involvement in space initiatives.
In addition to this event, the Conference will include a full array of speakers, a trade show with more than 120 companies, job fair exhibit area, more than 40 educational seminars and numerous networking opportunities. In addition, an Aerospace Education Teacher Workshop, an FAA Aviation Maintenance Professional Renewal Course, an FAA Safety Course and, with help from the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, an AOPA Flight Instructor Renewal Clinic will also be offered. Women in Aviation International will also honor its annual Pioneer Hall of Fame inductees and Scholarship recipients.
