$500,000 Available in WAI Scholarship Funds for 2006

Oshkosh, WI - Starting September 1, 2005, Women in Aviation members may start applying for approximately $500,000 in scholarships, provided by a variety of airlines, companies and individuals. In the ten years that Women in Aviation, International has managed these scholarships, $4 million has been awarded to deserving applicants, changing the lives of hundreds of women.

The description for each scholarship will be posted on Women in Aviation's Web site at www.wai.org and published in the September issue of Aviation for Women. Last year, nearly $500,000 was awarded to Women in Aviation members during the organization's annual international conference.

Interested applicants may download an application for this year's scholarships online at www.wai.org. Scholarship recipients include pilots, mechanics, engineers, dispatchers, flight attendants, students, teachers, and even managers involved in aviation. Several WAI scholarships are open to men as well. Awards range in value from $500 to more than $25,000. Applicants are encouraged to read scholarship descriptions carefully to make sure all requirements are met and follow the application's directions carefully. The deadline for most applications is December 2, 2005.

Scholarship applicants must be current WAI members. Membership rates are only $39.00 a year (student memberships are available for $29). In addition to being eligible for scholarships, an entire member benefits package will be sent including a subscription to Aviation for Women magazine and the online newsletter, WAI Connect Online.
