Women in Aviation, International Awards More Than $450,000 In Scholarships
Reno, NV—The Reno Hilton was the place to be Saturday night, March 13, at Women in Aviation, International’s closing conference banquet, where more than $450,000 in scholarships and grants for flight, dispatch, management and maintenance training, as well as academic study, were awarded to more than 40 deserving candidates. The Honorable Marion Blakey, FAA Administrator and keynote speaker, punctuated the evening with her heartening remarks about exciting changes to come in the airline and aerospace industry, and corporate sponsors from Pratt & Whitney and Delta both offered their hearty congratulations to all the scholarship winners.
This year’s 15th Annual International Conference was a rousing success, with more than 2,400 people in attendance and a sold out exhibit hall. Resumes were handed out, contacts were shared, and jobs were in hand for many attendees by the end of the weekend. A list of scholarship donors and winners can be found on our website at www.wai.org/education/scholarship_winners_2004.cfm.
