Women in Aviation, International and U.S. Air Force Sign Memorandum of Understanding at 15th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference
Reno, NV—It was a banner day for the U.S. Air Force during the opening of the 15th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference, taking place March 11-13, 2004. Secretary of the Air Force Dr. James Roche moved audience members to a standing ovation in the opening session.
Later that morning, his Special Assistant, Chris Patterakis, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Air Force and Women in Aviation, International, acknowledging that Women in Aviation, International’s mission of outreach and education is in alignment with the U.S. Air Force’s goal of increasing diversity throughout its Total Force.
In the agreement, the U.S. Air Force states that it will promote WAI to active duty, reserves, and guard affiliates by notifying them of the membership opportunities in WAI to include scholarship, aviation conferences, and aviation education and career opportunities.
The U.S. Air Force presence at the Conference exceeds 75 representatives from all levels of the Force.
Women in Aviation, International is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to providing networking, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
