Industry Leaders to Meet at 15th Women in Aviation, International Conference

Daytona Beach, Florida— Industry leaders including the Secretary of the Air Force, FAA Administrator, NTSB Chair and US Ambassador to ICAO are among the speakers scheduled to meet during the 15th Annual Women in Aviation International Conference. From March 11-13, 2004 in Reno, Nevada, attendees have the chance to interact with industry leaders and meet face-to-face with the heads of HR departments from airlines, fractionals, manufacturers, universities, training companies and major maintenance facilities around the country.
The 2004 theme is Aviation's Changing Face: Celebrating 15 Years of Education and Promise and the organization intends to do just that by honoring a new crop of scholarship recipients and Pioneer Hall of Fame recipients, including Dot Swain Lewis, Ann Lewis Cooper, Arlene Feldman, Rosella Bjorson and Nelda Lee. Pioneer Hall of Fame recipients are those women who have gone the extra mile for others and contributed to the success of all women in aviation and aerospace.

Confirmed speakers for the event include FAA Administrator Marion Blakey, NTSB Chairman Ellen Engleman, Aviation Safety and Security Expert Greg Feith, U.S. Representative to ICAO Ed Stimpson, humorist Rod Machado, air show pilot Julie Clark and motivational speaker
Donna Hartley. Breakout Sessions encompass subjects as diverse as Writing for Aviation, The Pilot-Mechanic Connection, to Careers in Corporate Aviation and Flight Attendant Career Opportunities. In the days immediately preceding the conference Women in Aviation, International is sponsoring a Teacher Workshop, a FAA Aviation Maintenance Professional Renewal Course and, with help from the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, an AOPA Flight Instructor Refresher Clinic.
During the closing banquet more than $500,000 in scholarships will be awarded to individuals in the areas of flight and maintenance training, engineering, management and other areas of aviation. These scholarships are provided in some instances as cash gifts and others as in-kind training opportunities.
