WOMEN IN AVIATION, INTERNATIONAL UNVEILS NEW LOGO
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - Women in Aviation, International (WAI) unveiled its new logo this week at the thirteenth Annual Women in Aviation Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. With a goal to increase membership to 10,003 by December 17, 2003, coinciding with the one-hundredth anniversary of flight, WAI is quickly gaining recognition and raising awareness within the aviation industry. The new WAI logo design will help to establish a strong connection with the organization’s mission in achieving that goal.
Designed by DHI Visual Communication in Vero Beach, Florida, the new logo incorporates all of the primary elements representative of WAI. The globe with the generic aircraft represents the organization’s international affiliation, while the alternate character “W” adds an abstract feminine element, creating a well-balanced design.
"Since the first conference in 1990 and the founding of the organization in 1994, we have tried to capture the essence of our organization in representing all facets of aviation. Over the years, we have worked hard to correct any misconceptions about how we are perceived as representing only pilots. This new logo will bring about a fresh, professional look that represents WAI today and into the future,” said Dr. Peggy Chabrian, President WAI.
