Bombardier Business Aircraft ServicesLear 31A Pilot Training (2)
Bombardier Business Aircraft Services is offering two (2) Learjet 31A pilot type-rating scholarships. Upon successful completion of the training course, the recipient will be able to conduct a 100 percent type rating check ride in the LR31A simulator. Selected candidates must be a holder of a Private Pilot Certificate with Multi Engine and Instrument-Airplane Rating. The course lasts 16 days and will be conducted in Dallas, Texas. The applicant is responsible for all lodging and travel costs.

Bombardier Aerospace Learjet Maintenance Training
Bombardier is offering one (1) Learjet Initial Type Course to an individual. This two-week Transport Canada Approved Aircraft Type Course requires students to have previous aircraft experience; other jet experience recommended. It is designed to provide an introduction to the Learjet aircraft and its systems. The student will gain a thorough understanding of the operational features and maintenance requirements of the aircraft. The applicant is responsible for all housing and travel costs.

ExpressJet Airlines, DBA Continental Express, Regional Jet Transition Course
ExpressJet Airlines is offering two scholarships to participate in the initial ground school instruction on the EMBRAER 145 with a FTD session and CRM course; the first step to your path of becoming a First Officer.
The Regional Jet Transition Course offers 10 days of systems training in a classroom setting located in Houston, TX. You will have the opportunity to take the FAA required Ground School Examination and observe what you have learned during multiple sessions in our on-site FTD's. Our CRM course will give you the insight to decisions and situations ExpressJet pilots face on a daily basis. This experience will be a great addition to your Resume!
Minimum Hours:
250 hours TT
100 hours ME
WAI membership required. Preference will be given to those candidates that actively participate in WAI. The participation should be one focus of the required essay.

Garmin International Scholarship
Garmin will award one scholarship to a student who meets the following qualifications:
1. Scholarship recipient must be enrolled as a full time student and graduating with their computer engineering or electrical engineering degree in 2008 or 2009.
2. Candidate must maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.75 or above
3. Preference shall be given to candidates who have education, experience and/or interest in one or more of the following fields: analog circuit design, digital system design/digital circuits, electronic devices and applications, computer architecture, embedded software engineering, RF/microwave circuit design, digital signal processing, and radar theory.
4. Candidate with a pilot’s license is preferred
5. Selection of scholarship recipients shall be made without regard for race, color, national origin, age sex or sexual orientation of the candidate.
Scholarship recipient will be considered for a paid summer internship at Garmin. Preference will be given to students who have education, experience and/or interest in one or more of the fields listed in section C above.
The scholarship shall be used for tuition and books related to the student’s engineering course of studies.

Horizon Airlines Dash 8 Q400 SIC Type Rating Scholarship (2)
Horizon Airlines is offering two Dash 8 Q400 SIC Type Rating Scholarships. They are available to WAI members only who meet our minimum criteria listed below.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 18
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must hold current class FAA Medical Certificate
- FAA Commercial Pilot’s Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings
- Minimum 750 hours of total flight time
- Minimum 50 hours multi-engine
- Minimum of 60 hours flown in last 6 months
Strong Preference:
- College degree from a four year accredited university
- Minimum 1,000 hours of total flight time
- Minimum 100 hours multi-engine
Training will be approximately eight concurrent weeks, conducted in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. Lodging accommodations will be provided during training. Scholarship winners must be available for potential employment by Horizon Air within one year of scholarship announcement.

ICAO Training Scholarship - Aviation Security
An ICAO training scholarship will be awarded to a woman in the aviation security field. Applicants should have prior training in a national or international civil aviation environment or international airport security organization and may have progressed to more responsible positions in aviation security. ICAO is a Specialized Agency of the United Nations and the recipient will be exposed to and have the opportunity of participating in the work of the Specifications and Guidance Material Section at our Headquarters in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. The duration could vary between two and eight weeks, according to the availability of the recipient. Applicants may also wish to submit an essay of not more than 250 words, indicating why they feel this training scholarship would be beneficial. No salary or per diem will be paid and any travel/medical costs involved would need to be borne by the recipient.

ICAO Training Scholarship - Environment
An ICAO training scholarship will be awarded to a woman in the environmental field. Applicants should have practical experience in dealing with the environmental effects of aircraft noise and aircraft emissions. ICAO is a Specialized Agency of the United Nations and the recipient will be exposed to and have the opportunity of participating in the work of the Environmental Unit at our Headquarters in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. The duration could vary between two and eight weeks, according to the availability of the recipient. Applicants may also wish to submit an essay of not more than 250 words, indicating why they feel this training scholarship would be beneficial. No salary or per diem will be paid and any travel/medical costs involved would need to be borne by the recipient.

ICAO Training Scholarship - Communications, Navigation and Surveillance
An ICAO training scholarship will be awarded to a woman in the communications, navigation or surveillance (CNS) fields. Applicants should have practical experience in either aeronautical communications, navigation or surveillance, or in air navigation infrastructure planning (regional air navigation plans). ICAO is a Specialized Agency of the United Nations and the recipient will be exposed to and have the opportunity of participating in the work of the CNS Section at our Headquarters in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. The duration could vary between two and eight weeks, according to the availability of the recipient. Applicants may also wish to submit an essay of not more than 250 words, indicating why they feel this training scholarship would be beneficial. No salary or per diem will be paid and any travel/medical costs involved would need to be borne by the recipient.

Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 Type Rating Scholarships
Southwest Airlines is proud to announce that we will award two scholarships for Boeing-737 type ratings. The scholarships are available to WAI members only who meet our minimum criteria (as described in this listing). The winners will be announced at the convention in San Diego, and training will be held in Dallas, Texas.
Scholarship winners must be available for potential employment by Southwest Airlines within one year of successful completion of the B-737 type rating class and additional review board. All scholarship applications must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2007.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Flight experience:
- U.S. FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
- Must be at least 23 years of age, at time of hire.
- 2500 hours total or 1500 turbine total, including a minimum of 1000 hours in turbine aircraft as the Pilot in Command, as defined by FAR Part I. Recency of experience is considered.
- Southwest considers only Pilot time in fixed wing aircraft. This specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV, EWO, “Other”, etc.
Medical:
- Current FAA Class I Medical Certificate.
- Must pass FAA mandated drug test.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Graduation from an accredited, four-year college preferred.
Work authorization: Established authorization to work in the United States
Language: Must read, write, and speak English fluently.
WAI Membership: Membership will be verified
Recommendation Letters: Minimum of three letters from any individuals who can attest to the pilot’s flying skills.

Telex Scholarship
Telex is awarding $500 and a Telex ANR (Active Noise Reduction) headset to a college student pursuing aviation flight training. The award may be used to cover flight tuition or associated college costs, including tuition, dormitory fees, or books, as necessary. Candidates will be judged on the strength of their essay stating their goals in aviation, evidence of satisfactory initial flight training, performance history in education and/or work, volunteerism, and financial need. Follow all WAI application guidelines.
