Bobbi Roe

Bobbi Roe made her fascinating, eclectic background and many talents come together beautifully in 1993 when she founded Woman Pilot magazine. A broad background of studies, travel, work experiences and flying experiences add texture and interest to her endeavors.

She has studied Architecture, Advertising Design, Graphic Arts, Journalism, Music and Sculpture at Lawrence University and Albion College. Born in Michigan, she has lived in several states landing recently in Chicago.

She put her experience with high school and college journalism to use in Michigan where she researched and wrote articles about Michigan for a publishing company in England. This travel guide was an in-flight publication for international business travelers. While living in Iowa, Bobbi worked at the University of Iowa Physics and Astronomy department. The department head was James Van Allen, discoverer of the Van Allen radiation belt. Bobbi's duties included work on Galileo grant proposals. Her flying began in Iowa where she completed her instrument rating and several hours of commercial.

Bobbi has served as a Board member of Women In Aviation, International and Vice Chair of the Finger Lakes Chapter of the 99's. She finds the best part of her involvement in aviation is being able to inspire new pilots by sharing information and helping them find mentors in organizations like WCA, Whirly Girls, WMA, ISA+21, WAI and the 99's.
